런던에 있을 때 애플 스토어를 가볼 기회는 없었다.
워낙 스케쥴에 쫓겨다니다보니 따로 시간을 못 만든 것이다.
그러다 하루는 런던에서 공부를 하는 친구와 저녁 약속이 있었다. 저녁을 먹고나서, 한 번 애플 스토어를 가보지 않겠냐고 했다. 나는 좋다고 답했다.
그렇게 코벤트 가든에 있었던 애플 스토어에 도착했을 때는 이미 문을 닫은 후였다. 아무래도 좀 늦었었으니까.
그래도 일단 사진을 찍어보기로 했다.
그날 밤 스토어를 지키고 있던 경비원이 우리를 자꾸 의식하는 것 같아서 몇 장 못 찍고 나왔지만, 그 덕에 이 사진을 얻었다.
텅 빈 애플 스토어 사진을 찍을 기회는 흔하지 않으니까.

I never had a chance to visit an Apple Store when I was in London.
Our schedule was so tight that I didn’t even have a slight time.
One day, I had a dinner with a friend who was studying in London. After dinner, he asked if I wanted to go to an Apple Store. I said sure.
When we finally arrived at Apple Store in Covent Garden, it was already closed. It’s obvious: it was quite late.
But, I decided to shoot some photos anyway.
Although we had to get out with only few shots as a guard on watch was keeping a keen eye on us, but that picture was one of them.
I think this turned out to be much more opportune. Not many people have privilege to take a picture of an empty Apple Store.

영국의 국립 미술관 National Gallery 앞에 조형물이 있었다. 무슨 풀로 만든 벽 같았다.
“진짜 같다…”라고 중얼거리며 난 그것을 만져본다. 맙소사, 진짜 풀이었다.
알고보니 제너럴 일렉트릭이 “미술을 생생하게”라는 슬로건으로 만든 조형물이었다.
이게 제너럴 일렉트릭과 무슨 상관이 있는 지는 모르겠지만, 신기하기도 하고, 또  이렇게 보니 정말 예술같기도 하다.

There was a mural right in front of National Gallery in London. It looked like some kind of a wall made out of grass.
“Looks real…” I murmured, touching the wall. Then I realized. This was real grass.
It was made by General Electrics, with the slogan, “Bring art to real life as never before.”
I don’t know how does this have to do with General Electrics, but it was refreshing… and in some ways, a work of art.
