[12/24~26/2010] Christmas Trip

When I got back from a hard semester, My parents decided to take me straight to a 3-day trip as Christmas approached. This is a story back then.

A mystery of cold winter beach. Given from the fact that Dad said it was slightly salty when he tasted the snow, I have reasoned that the sea water froze, then snow came on it.

Me standing on the giant salt-snow field.

Ganghwa Peace Observatory. In order for you to come here, a military personnel has to clear  you after a background check. This is because…

요즘에는 안에 사람이 산다고 하는데, 되도록이면 북한 정부에 충성적인 주민들을 배치(?)한다고 한다. 도망칠까봐. ;;
… this place is so north that you can actually see North Korea.
What you see above is so-called ‘Propaganda Town,’ which North Korea made to show off(?) to the South.
It used to be deserted, but now there are people living there.
North Korean government  purposefully deploy(?) residents who are loyal to it,
because all it takes is a swim of 30 minutes under barrage of gunfires (presumably) to get to South Korea.

North Korea is so close that you can even see it from the parking lot.
This is the time when you use the term “close, but far.”

Dinner, the roasted eel. You know, the ones that are on sushis. It’s pretty good, you know.

A cup of coffee after a nice dinner never goes wrong…
